That seems to have been the general reaction to the 2012 Stroud FM ‘Uncovered’ Calendar that was unveiled to the world at Monday night’s Launch party at BarNine here in Stroud!
All of the individual calendar photos (taken by Tammy Lynn Photography) had been printed in large and were displayed on Easels for everyone to see before they bought their very own calendar to take home, but before they took them home a lot of people took the opportunity to get their calendars signed by the models (nearly all of whom made it to the event)! There was a distinct buzz to the place, added to that the giant screen, kindly supplied by MRG Systems, was streaming a live Twitter Feed with some great comments coming through from guests, presenters and other well-wishers who couldn’t be there.
"Trading Post", "Confection Affection", "Cornflower & Calico", "Music Dynamics" and "The Prince Albert" are stocking the calendars for us, and of course, we have some at the radio station too!
Also – the large prints displayed at the Launch are for sale, so if you want your chance to take home a fabulous and unique piece of artwork then do please let us know – we are auctioning them off silently to raise some extra funds, if you would like to bid then please submit your bid by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or pop in in person with your bid (plus the month you are after) to Stroud FM, 48c High Street, Stroud, GL5 1AN, please mark your envelope FAO Sandrine France-Baker.
All bids starting at £35 please! We will let the lucky winners know next week!

Stroud FM is celebrating following the amazing response from the public and the local community, which has saved it from closure. The station, which is staffed by volunteers, faced coming off air at the end of September following a shortfall in funding. But a series of fundraising activities, a tough look at how costs could be cut and pledges of support from local energy firm Ecotricity and Education Provider Five Valleys Foyer, have so far, saved the day.

The directors of Stroud FM, having considered the latest financial position, feel that the station has a breathing space to continue whilst all options are being fully considered. Stroud FM particularly wishes to thank all those who have thus far donated and fundraised to enable them to reach this decision. The situation at Stroud FM will be kept under continuous review and updates will be provided regularly. Significant funds are still needed to maintain the station on air in the longer term. Anyone wishing to donate, advertise or sponsor Stroud FM should contact 01453 757492 or visit the website at www.stroudfm.co.uk

We have been working hard for the past few months with the national Community Media Association to develop this new service. From today a selection of our programmes will be avaialble from the website. You can either Listen Again from your PC or download the whole show to listen to at your conveneince from any mobile device. There is no need to register - just click and listen.
The new service has been organised by Andy Read who has presented a weekly progressive rock and metal show on StroudFM for the past three years.
In an Interview he said, "There is an amazing range of specialist shows every week on Stroud FM which attract regular listeners from far and wide. However many people have told us that they'd like to listen to specific shows but can not tune in because of other commitments. Also we have many overseas listeners where the time difference makes tuning in difficult. Now anyone can listen to certain shows at anytime and any place."
Currently 12 presenters have agreed to make their shows available. we have everything from Cajun to comedy, folk to heavy metal, local chat and national debates and classical to soul.
We plan to increase the number of shows in the coming months. To see what is available, just click on the 'Listen Again' tab on the top menu bar.

Co-presenter Valerie Mortin put a call out for volunteers to come and assist with the weeding and digging of the modest plot to turn it into a memorial garden for Francis-John Barlow, who sadly died in June this year.
Francis-John, affectionately known as FJ by many, was a regular contributor to the Wednesday breakfast show. A gifted and passionate landscape gardener, he gave listeners advice on horticultural issues. He was well known for the florid and poetic language he used to describe the plants and nature that he so loved.
Valerie was joined by friend of Francis-John Jo Beebee, fellow presenters Claire Jackson, Paul Moss and Brett Dye and producer Laura Manley.
She said, "I would like to say a big “Merci” to all the volunteers for their contribution to the lovely tribute garden outside the studio. The space outside Stroud FM looks much better. I would also like to encourage everybody to water the plants if they can because the plants also need a drink from time to time, especially with the sunny weather."
However, there is still work to be done, and any donations of plants will be gladly received.
